The Forest Bakehouse was started in 2013 by an initial group of people who were passionate about bringing good bread to the local community. Today, the bakery staff include founding member Sue Bailey, Chris Hill from Marks Bread bakery in Bristol, patisserie chef Rahel Steffen, Nemia Brookes from Harts Bakery in Bristol, Peter Kramer, Jesse Dean and new apprentice Katie Mawsley.

As a community cooperative bakery, we feel lucky to have had the financial support from local individuals who invested in the enterprise from the very beginning and continue to support us as customers and friends. Their investment, coupled with European funding secured from the Local Action Group, made it possible for us to establish and develop. In 2016, the Forest Bakehouse achieved hitherto unknown success, by winning the prestigious Taste of Gloucestershire Award Best Producer category.   Today, the bakery is a busy, thriving business, recently refurbished to better serve our growing number of customers.
